I'm a 50-something woman (closer to 60, if we're being honest) who delights in being a wife, mother, and Nonnie. In a nutshell, I'm a Bible-believer, keeper-of-the-home, book-loving, God-fearing Daughter of the King. I want to proclaim the gospel — in words, but far more in action — to my children, and to anyone else who will listen.

A Little of Everything

Over the years I've been a nurse, a softball player, a cashier, a nutrition coach, and part of a defence force family. I've built and managed websites, homeschooled my children, and managed our home and family's logistics. These days you'll find me working in aged care and behind the counter of a coffee shop — owned by my daughter, Abi. (It's been a little tricky navigating this new season of life, with a child I birthed now being my boss.)

My Story

I've been joyously married to my love, John, for over 38 years. Together we have four, five, or six children — depending on how you look at it. Confused yet? Yes, we're a blended family, which only adds to the vitality, energy, and chaos.

I wasn't raised as a Christian — very far from it. My childhood was, shall we say, colourful — something those raised in the ways of faith will thankfully never understand. I carried some baggage into my marriage and parenting years, and I learned how to be a parent the hard way. Honestly, I'm still learning now, as a mama to a 13-year-old.

I was a young wife, then a young mother. Now I'm a grandmother (Nonnie) and an older mum to a teenager, all at once. I've been a homeschool mama and stay-at-home mum for most of my life, and I'm now working full-time outside the home. I like to say we can't have it all, all at once — but we can have it all over the course of a lifetime.

Things I Love

I love being with my family, and there's nothing better than good coffee with a slice of baklava. I'm partial to a fine pecorino and dark chocolate. I enjoy Bible study, nursing in aged care, time with family and grandchildren, reading, studying health and nutrition, pottering around on our block, growing herbs, and riding motorcycles. I also watch far too much TV — drama, comedy, docutainment, fantasy, sci-fi, you name it. My dirty little secret? Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Why I Write

My greatest desire isn't that my children become great scholars or millionaires — it's that they learn to walk in the truth of God's word, to know Him and love Him. But I write for others too. Not because my words are especially spectacular or insightful, but because I've found that sharing our thoughts with one another, through the written word, is stimulating, helpful, and illuminating in itself.

I don't think I have any brand new insights or anything that is deeply profound. I simply want to share the good news of Christ through my everyday life. That doesn't always mean laying out the four-step plan to salvation, or quoting chapter and verse — because for me, walking as a believer is, above all, a relational walk.
