Bartering Your Skills or Subject Lessons Over At AussieHomeschool

Join me over at AussieHomeschool as we write about bartering your skills and lessons in the homeschool. Maybe you can’t teach music but you love to teach a subject that a nearby friend does not. If you like Nature Study and your friend isn’t the most motivated person for Nature Study yet she loves Art, Cooking, Sewing or History maybe you could do a Lesson Swap!

A Change of Seasons

A Change of Seasons

I’ve sensed the change coming. I’ve prepared for it. And now the change is here. A typical season even has a different atmosphere during the beginning, middle and end of that season. And over the last few weeks we have been in the transition between the end of one season and the beginning of another. Whilst I don’t want to hurry these last few moments of this season I also don’t want to cling to it when the change from one season to another is a necessary part of life. John and I have observed our son, continually prayed about his needs and decided that it is time. Time where his needs will be best met by going to school.

The View From The Shower Cubicle Floor

The View From The Shower Cubicle Floor

It all started when I managed to find myself on the cold, wet tiles of the shower cubicle floor. Thursday morning started like every other Thursday morning since we’ve been on holidays. A cup of hot tea, my comfy chair, laptop and my man sitting right next to me. Next minute I was butt naked and ready to greet the paramedics. After it all, I am incredibly thankful to be alive … that I live to take another breath. I am more in love with husband today than I was yesterday. I love all my children and my dad to bits. I’m here to blog for another day.

Who I Follow

Who I Follow

I’m a Christian, a homeschooler, a Christian homeschooler. I’m all this and much, much more. But I’m also none of those things. I do not like labels. I don’t like to ‘follow’ or adhere to any particular preaching or teaching. However, for those who really need labels to help define a site or person it might be said that

Five Tips For Your Privacy with the Facebook Ticker

Five Tips For Your Privacy with the Facebook Ticker

Are you confused or wary of the Facebook ticker? I will give you five tips to ensure your privacy on Facebook, ticker included.I don’t care for the ticker. It allowed me insights into people’s lives that I didn’t want nor need to know. It’s gossipy. I felt like I was eavesdropping on all my friends. This isn’t part of my online code of ethics. Quite simply, the ticker did not help me in my quest to guard my heart.

Fully Present In Every Moment

Fully Present In Every Moment

I want to honour the ordinary, to be fully present in the moment… to savour the little pockets of time that so often go by unnoticed. I want to fully engage with whatever it is that my hand is doing at the time. I want to connect all parts of me – head, hands and heart.

Things I Firmly Believe

Things I Firmly Believe

Five Things that I Firmly Believe and are the most important to my life as a Christian. I believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God. It is the final authority for faith and practice. I believe in one God, who is Creator of all, who has revealed Himself in three distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

More Children Equals More Humility: Letter To My Daughters

As I look through the Scriptures I simply cannot see where being a mother means that I will become more humble. I have learned that God uses the everyday circumstances of our lives to do His amazing, transforming work in our lives but He can do this with any circumstance. He’s not limited to using parenthood!

The DIY Bible Study

The DIY Bible Study

Oh, it’s so exciting… I’ve built a new website and I want you to zip over and visit it. It’s called The DIY Bible Study. I am certainly no expert. But I believe that’s why many people will benefit from what I have to share. I’m a layman – no fancy words or fancy books. I don’t know Greek or Hebrew or any other language for that matter. I simply want to share some useful tips. So this new site is for parents who wish to teach their children straight from the Word or for new believers or for busy mums who don’t have hours each day to pursue Bible study or attend classes. I did not invent or create these techniques, I am simply collating them in a user-friendly way.
